The so-called General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) comes into force on 25 May 2018 and naturally contains complicated 11 chapters and 99 articles with lots of changes for citizens and companies alike. Shorter and more understandable, the browser game “Data Clash” conveys the new rights for consumers and the competent handling of their data. “Data Clash ” is one of the offers of the campaign “Your Data – Your Rights” of the Digitale Gesellschaft e.V.

“Data Clash” was conceived and developed by the specialists for learning games and gamification Ijsfontein Interactive Media in collaboration with Target Games GmbH and Zeppelin Studio. “Especially young people are very careless with their personal data,” says Dr. Martin Thiele-Schwez, Game Designer of Data Clash. “We want to show in a easy way, which new rights the consumers have. We playfully depicted this in the form of a tower defense game, in which users in six levels against unwelcome data collectors, such as e-mail providers or online stores. Users defend their data and, incidentally, are informed about the basics of data protection.”
